課程概述 |
This course is based on the fundamental premise that the major role of information technology is to provide organization with strategic advantage by facilitating problem solving, increasing productivity and quality, increasing speed, improving customer service, and enabling communication and collaboration. As so, managing information resources, new technology, and communication networks is becoming a or even the-critical success factor in the operations of many organizations, private and public, and will be essential to the survival of organization in the future. The rapidly increased use of the Web, the Internet, intranet, extranet, e-business and e-commerce, and mobile computing changes the manner in which business is done in almost all organizations. We emphasize the innovative uses of information technology throughout the enterprise. |

Select one from the flowing topics; submit a two-page report summarizing its major business model and value propositions. Discuss its competitive advantages and sustainability.

Case write-up report |

For each case, submit a two-page report summarizing the answer for each given question and major points of the case. The team doing the presentation does not need to submit this WORD report, however, submit the ppt file instead. |

Case presentation |

Each presentation will be around 20 mins summarizing the major problem and challenge of the case company, the background of the case company, the undertaking actions/plan, and team answers to the discussion questions. The presented case will be determined. The presentation team submits the presentation material to be marked. |

Short article team presentation |
20% |
Each team prepares to present ONE short articles in the class. Each presentation will be around 15 mins summarizing the major arguments of the article and team position/response on the targeted issues. The presented articles will be determined. The presentation team submits the presentation material to be marked. |

Final project report (team) |

Choose an emerging IT technology and explore in details on its background and discuss its possible applications. See separate handout for details. Submit a 15-page final report and also prepare a 20 mins oral presentation in the class. Emerging technologies including (but not limited to): 1) Mobile service/gaming, 2) the Internet of Things, 3) Automation of Knowledge Work, 4) Cloud Technology, 5) Advanced robotics, 6) Autonomous and Near-Autonomous Vehicles, 7) 3-D Printing, 8) Green and Renewable energy technology, 9) User Interface Technology, 10) Smart systems, 11) Fintech, 12) Artificial intelligence. |
